Why I am gaining weight again: The explanation. :)
I had a two-day stay in Tagaytay courtesy of my friends/family in the Call Center Feast Mission. We had our team building activities, which made us hungry to death. Heehee.
Saturday afternoon we had a Filipino merienda, consisting of pancit, sapin-sapin (the colorful rice cake in the photos) and puto. The sapin-sapin is the one that I remembered most because it’s not like those I ate before. It’s not too sticky and is easy on the palate. The usual sapin-sapin I only eat sparingly because I find nakakaumay. Since we’re also in Tagaytay, which is a cool and dry place, we were able to enjoy this delicacy until Sunday breakfast. We also had some red wine and cheese after dinner.
Sunday food consisted of the ff: breakfast includes scrambled egg w/cheese, scrambled egg w/onions and tomatoes, hotdogs, corned beef, sauteed sardines, fried garlic rice. Lunch includes pesang tilapia and chicken caldereta(?).
Next pic on the photoset is the BonChon-ish soy garlic chicken we ate for dinner. It really tasted like BonChon’s. Definitely something you’ll eat with hands.
We traveled back to Makati last Sunday after lunch because we have work on a Sunday night. :(
On the way back, we had a detour to Ilog Maria, an organic farm that sells honeybee products. We bought some virgin honey, honey soaps (I bought sandalwood and honey soap, so bango!!!) and bee pollen. Anyway, the real reason we went for a detour is that we want to visit a casetta which was run by an Italian nun who cooks home-based Italian food. We ate pizza which has a foccacia base, tiramisu, and coffee granita. All I can say is that everything really tasted authentic and not store bought, you can really taste the mascarpone in the tiramisu, the cofee granita is definitely not Nescafe Freeze, and they grow their own basil for the pesto. Kuya Ryan bought a kilo of basil for only P100 (roughly $2.00), which is truly a steal. I on the other hand, bought a box of crostata, a rustic tart with pineapple jam as pasalubong for my team mates.
About the last two pics, me and bestie went to celebrate my salary raise by going to a local tex-mex restaurant for dinner last night. The restaurant’s name is Cocina Juan; it is very cosy, has fast and good service, and the food servings are biiiiiig. I had beef quesadillas because I can’t get over them (I had chicken quesadillas for breakfast when I was in Soya Bar in Centris). Bestie ordered Pomodoro pasta, which I did not taste and we had a huge plate of purple and red corn nachos. For some curious people, yes, there are red and purple corn, the corn chips are not artificially colored. :D
My team mates are planning to tow me in their food adventures later in Binondo, but I might have to pass. Bestie says I need to diet. Oh well. <3
